The Honda Accordis a series of automobiles manufactured by Honda since 1976, best known for its four-door sedan variant, which has been one of the best-selling cars in the United States since 1989. Since initiation, Honda has offered several different car body styles and versions of the Accord, and often vehicles marketed under the Accord nameplate concurrently in different regions differ quite substantially. It debuted in 1976 as a compact hatchback, though this style only lasted through 1989, as the line-up was expanded to include a sedan, coupĂ©, and wagon. By the Accord’s sixth generation in the 1990s, it evolved into an intermediate vehicle, with one basic platform but with different bodies and proportions to increase its competitiveness against its rivals in different international markets. For the eighth generation of the Accord released for the North America market in 2007, Honda had again chosen to move the model further up-scale and increase its size.This pushed the Accord sedan from the upper limit of what the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines as a mid-size car to just above the lower limit of a full-size car,with the coupe still rated as a mid-size car. The current ninth generation Accord for the North America market is again classified as a mid-size car, falls just short of full-size car classification with the combined interior space of 119 cubic feet.

PLEASE NOTE:If after following the instructions below the Check Engine Light does not flash it either means there are no fault codes or there is a connection error. To test connection, remove the TPS and run the engine then recheck codes.



INSTRUCTION:
1. If possible run the engine to bring the oxygen sensor up to operating temperature then switch the engine off.
2. Connect the terminals using your own jumper wire, as shown in the diagram above.
3. Turn ignition ON, the Check Engine Light (CEL) should be flashing on your car dashboard.

READING CODE INSTRUCTION
• Each code is made up of two series of flashes.
• The long flashes indicate the ‘tens’ digits.
• The short flashes indicate the ‘ones’ digits.
• A long pause separates each code sequence.
• Code Format Diagram shows above is code No. 12.
• If nolongflashes are observed then the code is a straight count of short flashes. i.e. 4 flashes = code 4.

Erasing procedure.

  • After the faults have been rectified, trouble codes can be erased by using a Scan Tool connected to the data link connector (DLC) or as follows:
  • Switch ignition OFF.
  • Remove radio fuse (7.5A) from underhood fusebox for 10 seconds minimum
  • Reinstall fuse.
  • Repeat checking procedure to ensure no data remains in ECM fault memory.
