OBD HACK- Diagnose your Honda OBD even without the diagnostic scanner

THIS TUTORIAL FOR 16 and 2 PIN OBD SOCKET

 

 TUTORIAL ON HOW  TO RETRIEVE THE TROUBLE CODE OF HONDA CARS EVEN WITHOUT THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL.
THIS TUTORIAL WILL WORK FOR THE FOLLOWING MODEL:

PLEASE NOTE:If after following the instructions below the Check Engine Light does not flash it either means there are no fault codes or there is a connection error. To test connection, remove the TPS and run the engine then recheck codes.
PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION BELOW
If possible run the engine to bring the oxygen sensor up to operating temperature then switch the engine off.
Connect the terminals using your own jumper wire.

Turn ignition ON.
If the Check Engine Light (CEL) flashes, read codes as described in the Code Format Description below.
Here is the code format

 Read the Check engine light on your dashboard base on code format above.
Flashing Check Engine Light
Code Format Description
 Each code is made up of two series of flashes.
• The long flashes indicate the ‘tens‘ digits.
• The short flashes indicate the ‘ones’ digits.
• A long pause separates each code sequence.
• Code Format on the diagram above is Code 12.
 If no long flashes are observed then the code is a straight count of short flashes. i.e. 4 flashes = code 4.

Erasing Guide
  1. Erasing Switch ignition OFF.
  2. Remove bridge wire. Remove BACK UP fuse (7,5A) from underbonnet fusebox for 10 seconds minimum
  3. Refit fuse.
  4. Trouble codes may also be erased by disconnecting battery lead. WARNING: Disconnecting BACK UP fuse or battery may erase memory from electronic units (e.g. radio, clock).
  5. Repeat checking procedure to ensure no data remains in ECM fault memory.

FORD F SERIES OIL RESET GUIDE

ABOUT FORD F-SERIES

The Ford F-Series is a series of light-duty trucks and medium-duty trucks (Class 2-7) that have been marketed and manufactured by Ford Motor Company since 1948. While most variants of the F-Series trucks are full-size pickup trucks, the F-Series also includes chassis cab trucks and commercial vehicles. The Ford F-Series has been the best-selling vehicle in the United States since 1981 and the best-selling pickup since 1977. It is also the best selling vehicle in Canada.

In 1999, to bridge the gap between the pickup line and the medium-duty trucks, the F-250 and F-350 became the Ford Super Duty vehicles; considered an expansion of the F-Series, the Super Duty trucks are built on a distinct chassis with heavier-duty components. As of the 2017 model year, the F-Series includes the F-150, the Super Duty (F-250 through F-550), and F-650 and F-750 Super Duty medium-duty commercial trucks. The most popular version of the F-Series is the F-150, now in its thirteenth generation.

Through the use of rebadging, Ford has marketed the F-Series through all three Ford divisions in North America. From 1946 to 1968, Mercury sold the Mercury M-Series in Canada; during the 2000s, Lincoln sold the Lincoln Blackwood, replaced by the Lincoln Mark LT.

Oil Life Reset Message Center Instrument Cluster (IC)

  1. Press and release the SETUP button until the message center displays OIL LIFE XXX% HOLD RESET = NEW OIL.
  2. Press and hold the RESET button for 2 seconds and release when the message center displays OIL LIFE SET TO XXX%.
  3. Press and release the SETUP button to exit the procedure.



Oil Life Reset Base Instrument Cluster (IC)

NOTE: All message center functions are carried out using the single stem SELECT/RESET button in the Instrument Cluster (IC).

  1. Press and release the SELECT/RESET button to scroll through the information displays until the message center displays HOLD RESET FOR SETUP MENU.
  2. Press and hold the SELECT/RESET button for approximately 2 seconds until the message center displays OIL LIFE XXX% HOLD RESET = NEW.
  3. Press and hold the SELECT/RESET button for approximately 2 seconds until the message center displays OIL LIFE SET TO XXX%.
  4. Release the SELECT/RESET button and allow the setup timer to expire to exit the procedure.

Oil Life Start Value Message Center Instrument Cluster (IC)

  1. Press and release the SETUP button until the message center displays OIL LIFE XXX% HOLD RESET = NEW OIL.
  2. Press and hold the RESET button for 2 seconds and release when the message center displays OIL LIFE SET TO XXX%.
  3. Press and release the RESET button to decrease the oil life start value (from 100% to 10%) for each 10% reduction until the desired oil life start value is displayed.
  4. Press and release the SETUP button to exit the procedure.

 

Oil Life Start Value Base Instrument Cluster (IC)

NOTE: All message center functions are carried out using the single stem SELECT/RESET button in the IC.

  1. Press and release the SELECT/RESET button to scroll through the information displays until the message center displays HOLD RESET FOR SETUP MENU.

Description

The engine control module (ECM) learns the airflow through the throttle body to ensure the correct idle. The learned airflow values are stored within the ECM. These values are learned to adjust for production variation and will continuously learn during the life of the vehicle to compensate for reduced airflow due to throttle body coking. Anytime the throttle body airflow rate changes, for example due to cleaning or replacing, the values must be relearned.
An engine that had a heavily coked throttle body that has been cleaned or replaced may take several drive cycles to learn out the coking. To accelerate the process, the scan tool has the ability to reset all learned values back to zero. A new ECM will also have values set to zero.
The idle may be unstable or a DTC may set if the learned values do not match the actual airflow.

*    DTCs P0068, P0101, P0102, P0103, P0106, P0107, P0108, P0116, P0117, P0118, P0120, P0122, P0123, P0128, P0171, P0172, P0174, P0175, P0201, P0202, P0203, P0204, P0205, P0206, P0220, P0222, P0223, P0300, P0351, P0352, P0353, P0496, P0601, P0604, P0606, P060D, P0641, P0651, P1516, P2101, P2119, P2120, P2122, P2123, P2125, P2127, P2128, P2135, P2138, or P2176 are not set.

*    Ignition ON, engine OFF.

*    The vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is 0 km/h (0 mph).

Learn Procedure

*    DTCs P0068, P0101, P0102, P0103, P0106, P0107, P0108, P0116, P0117, P0118, P0120, P0122, P0123, P0128, P0171, P0172, P0174, P0175, P0201, P0202, P0203, P0204, P0205, P0206, P0220, P0222, P0223, P0300, P0351, P0352, P0353, P0496, P0601, P0604, P0606, P060D, P0641, P0651, P1516, P2101, P2119, P2120, P2122, P2123, P2125, P2127, P2128, P2135, P2138, or P2176 are not set.

*    The engine speed is between 450-4,000 RPM.

*    The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) is greater than 5 kPa. *    The mass air flow (MAF) is greater than 2 g/s.

*    The ignition voltage is greater than 10 volts.

Throttle Learn




Reset Procedure (Performed after the throttle body is cleaned or replaced)

1. Ignition ON, engine OFF, perform the Idle Learn Reset in Module Setup with a scan tool.

2. Start the engine and monitor the TB Idle Airflow Compensation parameter. The TB Idle Airflow Compensation value should equal 0 percent and the engine should be idling at a normal idle speed.

3. Clear the DTCs and return to the diagnostic that referred you here.

Learn Procedure (Performed after the ECM is flashed or replaced)

Note: Do NOT perform this procedure if there are DTCs. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List First.

1. Start and idle the engine for 3 minutes.

2. With a scan tool, monitor the Desired Idle Speed and the actual Engine Speed.

3. The ECM will start to learn the new idle cells and Desired Idle Speed should start to decrease. 4. Ignition OFF for 60 seconds.

5. Start and idle the engine for 3 minutes.

6. After the 3 minute run time the engine should be idling normal.

Note: During the drive cycle the check engine light may come on with idle speed DTCs. If idle speed codes are set, clear codes so the ECM can continue to learn.

‹› If the engine idle speed has not been learned the vehicle will need to be driven at speeds above 70 km/h (44 mph) with several decelerations and extended idles.

7. After the drive cycle, the engine should be idling normally.

‹› If the engine idle speed has not been learned, turn OFF the ignition for 60 seconds and repeat step 6.

8. Once the engine speed has returned to normal, clear DTCs and return to the diagnostic that referred you here.

The Toyota Camry is an automobile sold internationally by the Japanese manufacturer Toyota since 1982, spanning multiple generations. Originally compact in size (narrow-body), later Camry models have grown to fit the mid-size classification (wide-body)—although the two sizes co-existed in the 1990s. Since the release of the wide-bodied versions, Camry has been extolled by Toyota as the firm’s second “world car” after the Corolla. In Japan, Camry is exclusive to Toyota Corolla Store retail dealerships. Narrow-body cars also spawned a rebadged sibling in Japan, the Toyota Vista —also introduced in 1982 and sold at Toyota Vista Store locations. Diesel fuel versions have previously retailed at Toyota Diesel Store.

Between 1979 and 1982, the Camry nameplate was delegated to a four-door sedan model in Japan, known as the Celica Camry. When Camry became an independent model line in 1982 with the V10 series, Toyota made it available as a five-door liftback in addition to the sedan. The subsequent Camry V20 series, debuted in 1986 with a station wagon substituting the liftback body variant and Japan-only hardtop sedans making their debut. The company replaced the V20 in 1990 with the V30 sedan and hardtop, but this model series was exclusive to Japan. Automotive tax regulations in that country dictated the retention of a narrower body as utilized in previous Camry generations. However, overseas demand for a larger Camry resulted in the development of a wide-body XV10 sedan and station wagon that arrived in 1991. Japan also received the wider XV10 as the Toyota Scepter . The company then issued an XV10-bodied coupé in 1993 that was spun off in 1998 as an independent model line, titled Camry Solara.

When the Japanese market received a new narrow-body V40 series in 1994 to replace V30, the wide-body XV10 continued unchanged. Its replacement, the XV20, arrived in 1996—named Camry Gracia in Japan. It was not until the narrow V40 ended manufacture in 1998 that the Camry in Japan was to again mirror the cars sold internationally. Japanese sedans dropped the Gracia suffix in 1999, although it was retained by the wagon until its 2001 demise. From 1998, the Vista ended its Camry alignment, and instead branched into an independent model line with the V50 series for an extra generation before the nameplate was withdrawn in 2003. The next wide-body model, the XV30, came in 2001. Now sold only as a sedan, it now offered two different front- and rear-end design treatments. Japan and most global markets received one style; a separate, more conservative version covered markets in East and Southeast Asia. With the XV40 of 2006, the Camry-derived Aurion become the donor model for the more conservative Camry sold in this region. The subsequent and current XV50 sold since 2011 has resulted in even more markets adopting the alternative body panels, such as Japan and Eastern Europe.

When Toyota released their luxury Lexus brand in 1989, it offered a close derivative of the Camry/Vista hardtop sedan as the Lexus ES. The relationship continues to this day, but over the generations, the ES—sold as the Toyota Windom in Japan from 1991 through to 2005—gravitated further away from its Camry brethren. Between 2000 and 2010 and since 2012, Daihatsu has offered a badge engineered Camry as the Daihatsu Altis sold only in Japan. Badge engineering has also occurred in Australia with the Holden Apollo between 1989 and 1996. From 1993, Toyota Australia badged V6-engined versions as Camry Vienta, becoming Toyota Vienta in 1995 until the badge’s departure in 2000. Since 2006, the Toyota Aurion model from Australia has derived from the Camry, but with revised front- and rear-end styling treatment and a partially refurbished cabin.

Oil Change Reset Procedure

  1. Turn the “ENGINE START STOP” or engine switch OFF with trip meter A reading shown.
  2. While pressing the trip meter reset button, turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch or engine switch ON.

Without multi-information display

  1. Continue to press and hold the knob until the trip meter displays 000000.

With multi-information display

  1. Continue to press and hold the knob until “COMPLETE” appears on the multi-information display.

Navigation Maintenance Item Setting (If equipped)

When the navigation system is turned on, the “Information” screen displays when it is time to replace a part or certain components.

  1. Push the “SETUP” button.

 

  1. Touch “Vehicle”

 

  1. Touch “Maintenance”

     (a) Maintenance information setting.

  •       1. Push the “SETUP” button.2.
  •        2. Touch “Vehicle” on the “SETUP” screen.
  •       3.Touch “Maintenance” on the “Vehicle Settings” screen.

 

  1. Touch the desired button.
  • “Delete All”: To cancel all conditions which have been input.
  • “Reset All” : To reset the item which has satisfied a condition.
  • “Reminder”: When this button is touched, the indicator is illuminated. The system is set to give maintenance information with the “Information” screen.
  • When the vehicle needs to be serviced, the touch screen button color will change to orange.
  1. Input the conditions.
  • Notice of “Date”: The next maintenance date can be input.
  • Notice of “Distance”: The driving distance until the next maintenance check can be input.
  • “Delete”: To cancel the date and distance conditions.
  • “Reset”: To reset the date and distance conditions.
  1. Touch “OK” The screen returns to the “Maintenance” screen.

  1. –      For scheduled maintenance information, please refer to the Scheduled maintenance guide or Owners manual supplement.
  2. –      Depending on your driving or the road conditions, the system may have a time-lag between the data which has been input and the actual date and driving distance.

Programming guide.

FIRST WHEN DO YOU NEED TO PROGRAM YOUR KEY?

  1. When System malfunction: LED in instrument panel remains ON for 1 minute or flashes at regular intervals for 1 minute, then flashes at irregular intervals.
  2. When Key added or replaced.

IF THE ABOVE SCENARIO OCCURS THEN YOU NEED TO PROGRAM YOUR KEY. This programming procedure no scan tool needed.

HOW TO PROGRAM?




    • Within 10 seconds:
    • Obtain 2 programmed keys (A and B). Insert key A into ignition switch.
    • Turn ignition switch to position II(IGNITION ON ONLY). Switch ignition OFF. Remove key A. Insert key B into ignition switch. Turn ignition switch to position II (IGNITION ON ONLY). Switch ignition OFF.
    • Remove key B. Programming mode now activated. Within 20 seconds:
    • Insert key to be programmed into ignition switch. Turn ignition switch to position II(IGNITION ON ONLY).
      Switch ignition OFF. Remove key.




  • Repeat above procedure to program remaining keys.
  • To exit programming mode switch ignition OFF, remove key, wait 5 seconds. Using new programmed key, switch ignition ON and start engine.
  • If engine does not start and LED in instrument panel flashes: Switch ignition ON. Wait at least 20 seconds.
  • Switch ignition OFF. Repeat programming procedure.
  • Keys can also be programmed using diagnostic equipment.NOTE: A maximum of 8 keys can be programmed.
